Breakfast + Introduction + Small Group

Sunday 27 May 2012

Holidays are here

As such, there is NO MYF meeting this weekend. We will also be having our biannual church camp, so please keep the families and individuals going in prayer. Pray that together we will grow as one body in Christ. Pray also for the upcoming Youth Prayer Conference (brochure is on the right). In the mean time, as we go our separate ways for these 14 days, keep everyone in your prayers! Pray that God will help us all to be persistent in our walk with Him as we develop a sensitive ear in our spirits to listen (and to obey). Short notes on what we learnt last week will be up pretty soon. Have a great week ya'll!

QT Challenge

We will be starting our daily Quiet Time together as an MYF starting tomorrow. Next weekend, we will meet up for the 1st time in small random groups to share on how God has spoken to us through His Word. Here is a short recap on what Mrs Louisa shared to help you begin your QT journey. Have fun!

WHY?
  1. We were created and saved to have a love relationship with the living God.
  2. Because we want to know God more. (There is a difference between knowing someone and knowing about someone. Example: Wayne Rooney.)
  3. We want to know what He has to say to us. Doesn't everyone crave to listen to God? There's no short-cut. We hear by reading His Word.
  4. We want to see what He has to show us.
  5. We want to do His will.
  6. We want to be changed and to become more like Him. (Relationship changes hearts. Example: couples grow to become more alike each day because they want to please each other)
  7. God's word is our spiritual food.
  • 1 day without food: no feeling
  • 3 days without food: feel's weird. Close friends and family will notice differences in your attitude.
  • 1 week without food: other people will notice differences in you. You become very weak and powerless towards sin.
  • More than 3 weeks without food: You return to dust and ashes. Your spiritual life is good as dead.

HOW?
  1. Set aside 15 minutes. Go to a quiet place and devote that 15 minutes to God. Tell the people around you not to disturb you.
  2. When you are settled, ask God to speak to you.
  3. Have faith. (Faith is something you will grow in as your learn more about God: Faith comes from the knowledge of God. Read about faith in Heb 11)
  4. Begin reading.
  5. Meditate. (Reflect and ask God how you can apply the verse to your circumstance today)
  6. Pick a sentence that "jumps out" or one that touches you. Chew on it.
  7. Journal:
  • Date
  • Scripture
  • Nature of verse: (Example to follow, command to obey, error to abstain from, sin, promise...)
  • Something new you learnt about God. "God is..."

WHAT?
Here are few verses to help you begin if you don't know where to begin...
  1. Jeremiah 29:11-14
  2. John 14:1-21
  3. Romans 12
  4. Matthew 5:13-48
  5. Proverbs 3:1-6
  6. Luke 6:27-42
  7. 1 John 4

Mr & Mrs Evans

This week, we are beginning a new series titled Get Real.
It is about seeing God, not as a separate entity from who we are and uninvolved with our Monday to Friday lives. Mr Richard Evan's and his other half will be kicking off our new series! Beginning with Mrs Louisa Evans, who will be sharing on Quite Time: practical ways for youths to engage with the Word of God each day. What does it mean to be quiet anyway? Why do we need to be quiet? Many still sees it as my devotion to God in terms of works. "I have to do this. If I don't do it, I fail as a Christian" as opposed to, "I really want to see and listen to what God has shown and said. I want to know more. I want to see Jesus evidently in my life"

The week following next, Mr Richard Evans will be ministering on Spiritual Maturity and seeing the need to listen to Him everyday (through His Holy Word and the guidance of His Holy Spirit) and slowly developing the habit and love of spending time with Him everyday. Spiritual maturity in any person isn't so much of our own effort and hard work, but rather, it is being able to see Jesus Christ more and more and seeing ourselves as less and less. Seeing ourselves in dire need of a Saviour.

To find out more, join us in TMC PJ Church Hall this Saturday at 5.40pm! We begin with prayer (please please try not to come barge in). Worship starts at 6.10pm.

Bible Study this Saturday!

"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others... and to give His life as a ransom for  many,"

This verse in Mark 10 beautifully paints a picture of our study this week: Christ on the road to calvary, simply because of this hefty 3 lettered word that has brought all creation into slavery: SIN. As we prepare to listen to God's word this weekend.

Here are 2 chapters you may begin with:
Mark 14 & 15
